Details on the corner of via Francesco Squarcione and via Fume. In Padova as always. Today is my last day at work, so technically the holidays have finally begun! Which would be a lot more exciting if I didn’t have la mia tesi (dissertation) to write in the space of 30 days. Yuck.
First look at the FW 2014 ads from Louis Vuitton by Nicolas Ghesquière, which will be the first full ad campaign from Ghesquière in his role as Creative Director.
They’re pretty and on-trend, of course, but I was honestly expecting much more. More of what, exactly, I’m not quite sure, but I was counting on Ghesquière to bring back the magic that Marc Jacobs initially created for the brand and finished with during the SS14 show. Sigh.
Finally someone speaks the truth. The worst bit is I find both the A/H 2014 and the recent cruise collection to be frankly unwearable in a normal setting. MJ for all his razzle-dazzle made clothes you could work into your daily life all the while staying incognito.
Going into work. Not really visible but wearing Anne-Valerie Hash, cuz on the few occasions I decide to wear a suit, I rock it. Let me remind you that she is one of the few permanent members (and one of even fewer women!) of La chambre syndicale de la haute couture. Well tired of seeing the words Haute Couture tacked on to whatever crap that comes down a runway.
Palazzo Morini, Padova
Once the torrential rains past, today was quite lovely. My mum made me accompany her on a guided tour of Palazzo del Bo, across the street. Well worth it. We saw the oldest medical amphitheatre in the world.
MOARRR LV. Added another piece to my wardrobe. And this just the day after I received my new Louis Vuitton kicks. Happy days. Also managed to decrease my number of clothes + shoes (all seasons) to 51 items. The goal is still to be able to shove everything in one suitcase and a carry-on so that’s slowly becoming more of a feasible ambition.
Finally tracked down a pair of Louis Vuitton A/H 2010 “Disco Sneaker Boots”.
Eurgh. I love them so much. These bad boys are even made in France, which is frankly a rarity for shoes. Yes those are sequins and velcro straps. What’s not to love?
